Healthy Women, a new health and wellness program developed in collaboration
with CVS Pharmacy and The Partnership for Women’s Health at Columbia
University, is highlighting National Breast Cancer Awareness Month throughout
October and November. The program offers a learning resource for women to
gather information to help monitor and manage their health and focus on
themselves.
The Healthy Women program addresses health topics, identified by extensive
research and The Partnership for Women’s Health, in free materials and
products at CVS stores.
Up-to-date brochures, products and printed information on prescription
medications are available at CVS store displays. Pharmacists can provide help
with women’s health. CVS’s Web site, cvs.com, highlights different topics.
During October and November, the site will offer breast-cancer information
on medical statistics, genetics and self-examinations. New themes are
introduced every other month and based on timely topics.
The Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center has added lithotripsy
treatment for kidney stones.
The incidence of kidney stones in the United States is increasing, with
more than 1 million cases reported annually. The new lithotripsy equipment
does not require the patient to be immersed in water and is designed to allow
for faster and more comfortable treatment. The painless procedure often takes
only 20 minutes and is typically done as an outpatient.
King’s College will have its first Diabetes in the Workplace program from
of Business, Wilkes-Barre.
The program targets areas most important to human-resources managers and
directors as well as benefits managers.
