Some say the demand is not being met quickly enough due to local opposition to proposed projects.

Representative Justin Fleming from Dauphin County says Pennsylvania is a well-resourced state with lots of methods for energy generation like nuclear power, coal-fired plants, and natural gas. He says he's concerned about the high price of energy that was purchased at a recent auction being passed down to consumers.

"It's going to be incumbent upon us to work with our partners in the federal government to find solutions to make sure that, you know, that either that cost a more of that cost is borne by the generators and producers and not all of it passed down to the consumers, because, you know, we can't we've got to have we've got to create a market where people can afford electricity rather than price them out," Fleming said.

This was just a committee hearing, no vote was taken. Some suggestions during the hearing involve legislation.

To break it down further, there's a need to improve the power grid but the question is who's responsible to make upgrades.
