Heartland Community College trustees to resign

NORMAL, Ill. (WMBD) — A member of Heartland Community College's Board of Trustees announced on Monday that they will be resigning.

According to to HCC spokesman Steve Fast, will resign from the board on Dec. 1. He was one of the board's longest-serving members and was first elected to the board in 2013.

He is stepping down to spend more time with his family, according to Fast.

"Over the last few decades, Jeff Flessner's knowledge, expertise, and leadership has helped shape Heartland Community College into what it is today," said Becky Ropp, District 540 Board Chair. "Jeff's professional background has helped us navigate the ever-changing business and insurance world. His leadership has helped us as a board of trustees to spearhead the vision and changes to position us for a bright future. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I want to thank Jeff for all his hard work and dedication to higher education in District 540."

The board will have 60 days to fill his seat. His six-year term on the board was set to expire in April 2025. It will be up for election during the April 1, 2025 election.
