Heavy winds knocking out power throughout Northland

12:30 P.M. UPDATE: Power has been restored to Minnesota Power customers.

Lake Country Power still has 453 members without power.

DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - Power outages are reported throughout the Northland as a high wind advisory continues this morning.

As of 6 a.m., Minnesota Power's website indicated 575 customers without power including parts of Duluth and as far north as Taconite. Currently, the estimated time for power to be restored is between 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.

Lake Country Power indicated 1840 members without power, including many parts of the Iron Range.

Along the north shore of Lake Superior, Cooperative Light & Power showed 957 members in the dark as of 6 a.m.

In some cases, wind gusts of between 45 and 50 mph were expected during Tuesday morning's wind advisory.
