Helen B. Kowalec

Helen B. Kowalec, 86, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at St. Luke’s Villa, Wilkes-Barre.
She was born in Wilkes-Barre on Oct. 9, 1926. She was a daughter of the late John and Teofila Kowalec and a graduate of Marymount High School. Prior to her retirement she had been employed in the local garment industry. She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Parish, Wilkes-Barre.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Stella; brother, Anthony; and by a niece, Catherine Campisano.
Surviving are nephew, Joseph Umbra, and his wife, Karen, Wilkes-Barre; nephew-in-law, Thomas Campisano, Reading; and several grandnieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the Bednarski & Thomas Funeral Home, 27 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Hope Parish.
Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Maternity Cemetery, West Wyoming. Friends may call on Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
