Helen Opsitus

Helen Opsitus, formerly of Swoyersville, passed away Monday September 17, 2012, at Tiffany Court, Kingston, where she had been a guest.

Born in Luzerne, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Anna Zacryshic Witek.

Helen was a member of Holy Family Parish, Luzerne, and a former member of the Altar and Rosary Society.

Helen attended Luzerne High School and the Wilkes-Barre Business College.

Prior to retirement, she was employed at Westinghouse Electrical, Bloomfield N.J. She was also a member of the West Side Senior Citizens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1993; brothers, Nicholas (Mickey), Joseph, Stanley, Michael Witek; and a sister, Sophie Witek.

Surviving are nieces, Denise Stefanowicz, Cynthia Daurelle, Michelle Royds; nephews, Nick Witek, Joseph Witek, Stanley Witek; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

A funeral for Helen will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. from the Lehman-Gregory Funeral Home Inc., 281 Chapel St., Swoyersville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Holy Family Parish, Bennett Street, Luzerne. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Dallas. Family and friends may call Friday from 9 a.m. till time of service.
