Helping Veterans And Families is now offering employment services for veterans in west central Indiana.

Currently, HVAF serves homeless and at-risk veterans, and their families, throughout central Indiana. HVAF is expanding into new areas, including Terre Haute.

It has launched a two-year pilot program with partners Intecare, an organization that provides housing services, and Reach Services, a Terre Haute-based nonprofit.

Veterans can access these services by contacting Maddie Richason, Terre Haute-based employment specialist, at 317-601-7342 or by emailing her at . Richason can set up an appointment to meet with them; HVAF does not currently have a set location in Terre Haute, and Richason works remotely.

"She is working directly with Reach, as they refer their veterans who need employment help to her," said Lauren Carpenter, HVAF marketing and communications manager.

Emmy Hildebrand, HVAF CEO, stated in a release, "We are pleased to partner with Intecare and Reach Services to add a much-needed employment component to the services available for veterans in west central Indiana."

Reach serves nearly 100 veterans annually "and our partnership will ensure veterans are better positioned to maintain their permanent housing," Hildebrand said.

The employment specialist will provide one-on-one career counseling by offering the following services: resume creation, interview prep, financial planning and career placement.

In 2023, HVAF's employment team provided employment services to 297 veterans in central Indiana. Helping Veterans And Families (HVAF) helps homeless veterans return to self-sufficiency and engages at-risk veterans and their families to prevent them from becoming homeless by providing supportive housing, case management, employment support, therapy, and basic needs.
