Hendrick wins: Re-campaigning efforts fail Joven as new mayor steps in

The official numbers showed that Hendrick received double the number of votes compared to Mayor Joven with 20,653 votes to 9,996 votes.

We spoke with Mayor-Elect Hendrick immediately after the results came in and he said it's time to get to work.

"You're going to find someone who's going to roll up his sleeves, get out in the dirt, work to make Odessa better," said Hendrick. "We got to address critical issues, one of them is water. Salaries at the city of Odessa. Another one is trash I hate trash. I think Odessa wants positive change and everyone wants to be proud of their city."

As for Mayor Joven, we reached out to get his reaction to the results of the race and he had this to say:

"I'd like to congratulate the winners. I'll have them all in my prayers. Joanna and I humbly thank all Odessan's for the honor of serving you these last four years. God bless you all."

The city tells us that Mayor-Elect Hendrick will be sworn into office later this month on November 26th.
