Here's what to do with your yard signs now that the election is over
With the election over, signs will be removed from yards and the side of the road. has ways that you can prevent plastic and recyclable materials from ending up in a landfill.
SWACO's Director of Communications, Hanna Greer-Brown says they will be accepting materials like metal stands, film, coroplast, and paper signs at the Recycling Convenience Center. Not only can you give your sign's new purpose by recycling, but hard plastic signs can also be reused at home.
"If somebody wants to get creative at home, they certainly could find a way to maybe paint, those hardcore, coroplast signs and reuse them for a garage sale or yard sale in the future," Greer-Brown said.The will be accepting political signs through the rest of November. They are open from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from Monday through Friday and 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. If you can't get out to the center, a mobile collection event will be held this Saturday, November 9th from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Bill McDonald Athletic Complex.
" SWACO is really on a mission to make recycling easy and convenient for residents. And so that's why we offer a mobile collection event, so that residents who are out, maybe running errands on Saturday, can just load up these yard signs and get them out of the yard, get them out of the garage, bring them to us, we'll recycle them."Other places you can dispose of your signs are at the Board of Elections from now to December 1st at the east end of the parking lot. The City of New Albany is also offering a drop-off event until November 19th at Village Hall. In Grove City, SWACO has a drop-off location in Kingston Center for your signs until November 11th.
