Holiday magic of Thanksgiving Day parades comes to Mott Children’s Hospital

ANN ARBOR, MI - University of Michigan Health’s C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital hosted its third-annual Mini Thanksgiving Day Parade on Tuesday, Nov. 21.

Children smiled, with some coming out of their rooms to see the parade filled with character balloons, Santa Claus, and to get to pet Barney the Therapy Dog. The idea is to bring some of the magic from Detroit’s Thanksgiving Day parade to those at Mott.

“The hospital is going to be full over the holidays,” Chief Operating Officer Luanne Ewald, said. “We wanted to be able to provide some of the magic that happens on Woodward Avenue and bring it to C.S. Mott so that our kids and family could experience the joy.”

The University of Michigan Marching Band and cheerleaders, as well as the UM Department of Public Safety & Security, the Ann Arbor Police Department, Parade Company Friendly Clowns, Motty the Mott Block and more were also in attendance.
