Holiday Toy Shop Opens, BigXthaPlug, Kevin Hart In Boston: MA Weekend Events Hummingbird Books in Chestnut Hill will bring back its beloved Toy Shop for the holiday season. Here's what else to know this weekend.

MASSACHUSETTS — It isn't so much a question of what there is to do in the Boston area and beyond, but rather, what should locals do?

Welcome to Patch's latest weekly roundup of highlight-worthy events across the city and surrounding areas. We've compiled them into one, easy-to-follow list, for your weekend planning.

This week, the winter holiday season really takes over for Halloween, especially at The Street in Chestnut Hill.

Hummingbird Books, 55 Boylston St., Suite 5510, will transform into The Toy Shop at Hummingbird Books for the season starting on Saturday.

The beloved seasonal popup will see the shop turn its kid's section into a toy shop with gifts for the extended holiday season.

"The Toy Shop at Hummingbird Books will once again feature a whimsical life-size Gingerbread House at its entrance," officials said.

Guests passing through the Gingerbread House will find toy selections from companies like Fisher Price, Jellycat and more.

Throughout the holiday season, Hummingbird Books will offer holiday gift-wrapping and make donations benefiting various local charities, officials said.

The popup runs from Saturday through Dec. 31. Hummingbird is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

In addition to the start of the winter popup, in Chestnut Hill, there are plenty of concerts and other events to check out this weekend.
