Hollywood Anxiously Awaits Election Results

While the 2024 election has yet to be decided, Hollywood notables have taken to social media to share their reactions and anxieties over anticipated delays in results.

Katie Couric, Bette Midler, Yvette Nicole Brown, John Cusack and Krista Vernoff are among those politically active stars in Hollywood commenting on the tight race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, which has the vice president with 189 electoral votes and the former president with 230 as of 9:45 p.m. PT Tuesday.

  • As for late Tuesday evening on the West Coast, the race is currently still too early to call for the battleground states of Pennsylvania, Nevada, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Arizona.

    The Associated Press already declared Trump the winner of Georgia, North Carolina, Texas, Missouri, Ohio, Wyoming, Louisiana, South Dakota, North Dakota, Arkansas, South Carolina, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Alabama, Indiana, Idaho, Kansas, Iowa, Utah, Montana, Missouri and West Virginia.

    As for Harris, Harris was declared the victor of New York, Vermont, Maryland, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Delaware, California, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, the District of Columbia, Connecticut, Virginia, Hawaii and Illinois.

    Tuesday night, the Harris campaign emailed staff saying they expect the race to go into Wednesday morning. "While we continue to see data trickle in from the Sun Belt states, we have known all along that our clearest path to 270 electoral votes lies through the Blue Wall states. And we feel good about what we're seeing," the email read in part.

    Former President Barack Obama reminded voters that "it took several days to count every ballot in 2020, and it's very likely we won't know the outcome tonight either."

    Brown wrote on X, "Damn this red mirage. And if we lose the Senate... Ugh!!! And Latino voters leaning towards Trump when he vows to DEPORT THEM! I just..."
