Hope Center opens new recovery treatment program in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A new 28-day residential treatment program is open at the Hope Center.

The Hope Center works year-round to help people struggling with substance use disorder and homelessness. Their new program is now accepting clients.

For the center, it's about small steps to recovery. Starting the journey is less overwhelming with a shorter commitment period. The almost month-long program aims to fill a gap in the recovery process.

There's not a lot of turnover in the long-term program. So, get people moving in and out quickly, and, that way, we can accommodate more people and get more people into recovery," said David Shadd, senior director of programs at The Hope Center.

The program gives quick access to those beginning their road to recovery.

"They may not be alive tomorrow, or they may change their mind," said Shadd. "We need to work as quickly as possible and get people the help that they need as soon as we can. Whatever level of care that is.

The program has capacity for 16 beds. While 15 have already been filled, the center always accepts those needing help.

"Our goal is to keep people alive until we can help them recover," Shadd said. "And I think that has to be the goal with everybody working in this field."

This program is one of many that the Hope Center offers. Their goal is to help people get off the streets, and stay off the streets.
