CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — Despite the colder weather on Wednesday, a local business donated its time to help the West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility with an outdoor landscaping project.

The "Hope for Veterans" employee resource group from Hope Gas spent its morning at the nursing facility lending a helping hand. While there, members of the group performed many outdoor tasks to help spruce up the property including repairing broken benches and picnic tables, painting, laying mulch and power washing.

West Virginia Nursing Facility Administrator Sherri Reed Told 12 News that having a nice place to sit when outside helps veterans with their health.

"Just being outside in the fresh air is good you know for their quality-of-life And having beautiful scenery, flowers, and nice mulch and things to see I'm sure helps improve their day," Reed said.

Twenty-one employees were registered to help at Wednesday's event, but the nursing facility is always looking for volunteers to help. If you would like to volunteer your time, you can call the nursing facility at 304-626-1602.
