Hot to begin the work week; watching the tropics

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) —The hot and dry conditions will continue into the work week, highs will reach the low to middle 90s on Monday and Tuesday with a mixture of sun and clouds. High pressure has been a dominate feature in our forecast for the last several days and will stick around through the beginning of the work week. Although a stray shower or sprinkle can not be ruled out, most will stay dry.

A cold front will move through during the middle of the week and should knock our temperatures down to more seasonable, rain chances will still remain low although a stray shower or two not out of the question Wednesday evening.

: Watching the tropics closely as as an area of thunderstorms in the Caribbean has a high chance (80%) of developing over the next 7 days, next name on the list will be Helene. While it is still too early to determine what type of impact this may have on our forecast, a few showers and storms may be possible mainly on Thursday and Friday.

Intensity and path still remain unknown due to the fact that we still have yet to see significant development and a closed circulation, once this happens we'll know more and this will likely occur sometime at the beginning of the work week.

Stay tuned
