How many EV charging stations are there in Macon, Warner Robins? More just opened

A new electric vehicle charging station opened for use on Wednesday at S. Armed Forces Boulevard in Warner Robins, bringing the total number of charging stations in the town to 92.

In Houston County alone, there are over 650 EVs registered, according to Jeremy Nelms, CEO of Flint Energies. EV registrations have consistently increased by about 40% year after year, Nelms said.

"Electrified transportation is not just a hobby now in the state of Georgia," Nelms said.

Since 2018, there has been $28 billion worth of investment from tier one and tier two suppliers, manufacturers and assembly plants locating to Georgia, according to Nelms.

In addition, 36,000 jobs have been created as part of that supply chain, Nelms said.

The new charging station in Warner Robins is one of 5,651 public electric vehicle charging stations across Georgia, according to the Department of Energy Alternative Fuel Data Center.

Macon is home to 131 charging stations, Warner Robins has 92, Milledgeville has 48 and Dublin has 29, among others, according to PlugShare, an app and website that helps EV drivers find charging stations.

The new charging station in Warner Robins was funded for by the Department of Energy's Energy Efficiency Block Grant Program, along with contributions from Flint Energies and Middle Georgia Clean Air Coalition, according to Patrick.

"By promoting the use of electric vehicles, we are helping Warner Robins transition to cleaner forms of transportation, improving air quality and paving the way for a brighter future," Warner Robins Mayor LaRhonda Patrick said.

In Macon, transportation remains Bibb County's highest source of greenhouse gas emissions, according to the emissions tracker report at Drawdown Georgia, a climate solutions organization.
