Dr. Michael Winters shares advice on how to avoid getting into family arguments during Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is a holiday full of many different traditions, like eating a delicious dinner, watching football, or saying what we're thankful for.

Or, depending on your family dynamic, you might also have a tradition of arguing at the dinner table.

Whether it's getting into heated debates over politics or trying to ignore that one unpleasant relative who's always looking to bicker about something, arguments have become a part of the holiday that many families dread every year.

And, in the increasingly divisive times we’re living in, people are more testy and less patient than ever.

In the audio above, Houston Matters producer Joshua Zinn speaks with area counseling psychologist Dr. Michael Winters about how families can avoid conflict and potentially escalating arguments during Thanksgiving dinner.
