How to watch Houston Texans’ Week 10 matchup vs Detroit Lions

The Houston Texans haven't lost two-straight games since DeMeco Ryans' first two as coach in 2023. Fresh off a 21-13 loss to the New York Jets, Ryans and the Texans will have their hands full in Week 10 against the red-hot Detroit Lions.

Detroit sits atop the NFC with a 7-1 record, which includes six-straight wins. It beat the Green Bay Packers 24-14 in Week 9 and the Minnesota Vikings 31-29 in Week 7. The Texans lost 24-22 to Green Bay and 34-7 to the Vikings earlier this season.

Houston is 6-3, with its best win coming in Week 5 against the Buffalo Bills. Offensive line struggles along with the absence of top receiver Nico Collins have slowed down Houston's offense over the past few weeks. Collins is eligible to come off the injured reserve this week, but Ryans didn't reveal whether that'd happen or not Wednesday.

Will Anderson Jr. injured his ankle against the Jets and is also questionable for Sunday's game after not practicing Wednesday. The 2023 third-overall pick has been the Texans' most valuable defensive player, leading the team with 7.5 sacks and tied for a league-leading 11 tackles for loss despite playing eight snaps in Week 9.

Aidan Hutchinson was on a short list of Defensive Player of the Year contenders before suffering a season-ending leg injury in Week 6 against the Dallas Cowboys . He led the league with 7.5 sacks before suffering the injury, nobody else on the Lions has more than 2.5 sacks this season. That led to a trade for edge rusher Za'Darius Smith this week, who had five sacks in nine games with the Cleveland Browns this season. Smith had a season-high two sacks against the Texans in 2023 and could be a problem for an offensive line that's struggling to pass protect. C.J. Stroud was sacked a career-high eight times last week against New York.

The Texans will debut their "Battle Red" jerseys Sunday night. The all red alternates were part of Houston's entirely new uniform set that was announced this offseason.

Houston is a 3.5-point home underdog.
