Human remains found by construction workers in LaGrange, GBI and local police investigating

LaGRANGE, Ga. ( WRBL ) — Thursday, Officers with the LaGrange Police Department have confirmed human remains were found by construction workers.

According to the LaGrange Police Department, construction workers found the remains in a wooded area on Ann Bailey Way near Scholar Lane. After police conducted an initial investigation of the scene confirming the remains were human, agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigations were called in.

GBI agents and LaGrange police secured the remains and sent them to a crime lab in Atlanta for an autopsy.

The LaGrange Police Department says a death investigation has been opened. Police detective say they are working with members of the GBI to identify the remains and determine a cause of death.
