Humane Society of Dickson County rescues injured cats from ‘a hoarding case’
DICKSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — One Middle Tennessee humane society has tried to find ways to accommodate an estimated 30 rescue cats.
The Humane Society of Dickson County responded to a hoarding call where they found cat bones, bodies, and numerous injured and malnourished felines.

Kaylee Morton with the Humane Society of Dickson County said when they arrived at the house, they first noticed the smell. Then, they saw two dead cats.
"With the care that they were getting, I guess we could consider this a bit of a hoarding case," Morton said. "Right now, we have multiple traps set up on the property and we will be checking on those regularly to capture all of the rest of the cats that are out there."
The organization was able to rescue two of the estimated 30 cats believed to live in or around the house and lay out traps for the rest. They are also ensuring that the two rescued cats receive medical attention.
The house was condemned and deemed unfit for human habitation.
"Multiple of the other cats are suffering from severe respiratory infections, missing eyes," Morton told News 2.
Despite the shelter already being at triple capacity, Morton told News 2 they wouldn't turn any cat away.
"I would rather them come in here and us be able to help treat them than they be suffering out there on their own," Morton said.

News 2 contacted Dickson Police for more details on this case, but had not heard back by publication.
Morton said that there are several ways that you could help the organization, including by fostering the cats that they have in their shelter. Additionally, you can donate cat food, litter or donate monetarily.
To help the humane society, people are asked to come foster the cats they already have or contribute with supplies or donations.
