LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — Hundreds of new apartments are coming to Lancaster County.

High Real Estate Group held a groundbreaking on Tuesday morning. The 600 apartments will be built at Greenfield, right across the street from Saint Joseph's University.

The apartments will be spread across four "five-story buildings" with elevators. A total of 28 townhouses are going to be built.

"Being able to bring a project like this forward allows for economic development," managing director of the residential division for High Real Estate Group Brad Mowbray said. "It allows for the businesses in the community to be able to grow and to be able to provide great housing for their employees. And so that hopefully will help drive more businesses to want to choose Lancaster County as their home."

The construction is in two phases. The first will include 311 apartments. That's expected to be finished in the fall of 2026.
