Sports IB Nation Sports Talk: Marcus Freeman Talks Jason Onye, Rylie Mills, Cornerbacks, Kickers

Irish Breakdown discusses comments from Notre Dame football coach Marcus Freeman from his Thursday Zoom media session. Freeman discusses Jason Onye's availability for this week's game as well as cornerbacks Leonard Moore Christian Gray, Rylie Mills, and kickers Zac Yoakam Marcello Diomede if Mitch Jeter can't go.

We answer a few subscriber submitted "We In/We Out" questions. Some of them include:

* With the depth issues on D, the O should focus more on ball control to shorten the game and lower the number of snaps the D players need to be on the field. Our 2.5 cornerbacks don't need to be chasing guys for 70+ snaps. We in or we out?

* The NCAA closing the 12 men on the field loophole less than a week after the Ohio state game is both impressive and hilarious. We in or we out.

* Injuries on the defensive side of the ball late in the second or fourth quarter, authentic or factitious, generally are a negative for the offensive side. A penalty on the player for falsifying an injury is untenable: Officials cannot determine whether the player is faking an injury or is truly injured.

Rather than imposing a 10-second runoff in the absence of a time-out, which unfairly penalized the truly injured player's team, a better solution might be adding 10 seconds to the clock. IN or OUT?

* How many years will Marcus Freeman age after this season? Has to be taking its toll he looks like hell in the pressers.

* Notre Dame manages to get through the rest of the season without losing another starter to injury... We In or We Out?

Riley Leonard has his first 300 yard passing game with the Irish this weekend... We In or We Out?

Leonard Moore gets his first INT of many in his ND career this weekend... We In or We Out?

* In or Out: There will be more than 1 top 10 team that will lose this weekend?

* WI/WO vs GT:

-Defensive line gets 4 sacks

-Leonard has another 3 TD passing game

-Jaden Greathouse has 5+ catches

-Leonard Moore gets picked on early and makes them pay with his first interception.

We have more in Rapid Fire as well. See the list of topics below!

Today's Rapid Fire topics include:

* We discuss Marcus Freeman's comments on defensive lineman Gabe Rubio. Did the Irish miss the edge he brings when he was out with injury for five games?

* On a scale of 1 to 10...What's your confidence Riley Leonard Brandon Wimbush's record of 14 rushing touchdowns in a season?

* Scale of 1 to 10...What's your confidence Leonard breaks Tony Rice's single season rushing record of 884 yards?

* Is it at all a bad thing if Leonard breaks either of those records?

* There was a question posed on IB's Champion's Lounge recently. It's about the situation last week when Notre Dame was winning a lopsided game with the reserves in the game still throwing the ball and trying to score in the fourth quarter. His question is: Is it running up the score when you let your reserves actually play the game or just waste time by kneeling down?

* If you could pick one classic game to go back in time and watch in person, what game would it be?

* Which receiver will make the bigger impact after being traded this week: Amari Cooper to Buffalo or Davante Adams to the Jets?

* Thoughts on Thursday's breaking news that Virginia basketball coach Tony Bennett is retiring effective immediately.
