ID Of Stabbing Suspect In Hoffman Estates Released: Police The Hoffman Estates resident is being charged with attempted murder following an "unprovoked" attack Sunday, according to police.

HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL — An arrest has been made in what police are calling an "unprovoked" stabbing Sunday afternoon in the 100 block of E. Golf Road. Michael Z. Passev, with a last known in the 1100 block of W. Higgins Quarters, Hoffman Estates, has been charged with attempted murder.

Passev is due in court Tuesday for a bond hearing.

Following the attack, the 56-year-old male victim was taken by the Hoffman Estates Fire Department to Lutheran General Hospital, where he underwent surgery and is listed in stable condition.

Police believe the incident was isolated and there is no threat to the community.

Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of Roselle Road at 11:54 a.m. Sunday for a suspicious person attempting to open car doors and throwing items at businesses.

While responding to the area, police received a second call at 11:59 a.m. from the 100 block of E. Golf Road, of someone who had been stabbed in the parking lot. Upon arrival, police found the victim with multiple stab wounds. Witnesses provided police with a description of the male suspect involved and said he had fled southwest from the scene.

Shortly thereafter, Passev was located in the 1000 block of Roselle Road and was taken into custody without incident.
