“If Kid Wasn’t Deion’s Son”: Shedeur Sanders’ “One of the Best Players” Status According to Matt Rhule Becomes a Laughingstock Among Football Fans

Matt Rhule pulled a surprise move. While college football fans were losing their mind on who was the best, Colorado Buffs' Shedeur or Nebraska Cornhuskers Dylan Raiola, the Nebraska HC sprinkled compliments for Deion Sanders' son crowning him as "one of the best players". However, Rhule's move on 'The Joel Klatt Show' did not sit well with the college football fans. Not long after, they ended up making a laughingstock out of Shedeur.

Is it because Raiola is allegedly the next Patrick Mahomes in the making? Only the fans would have an answer to that.

Last year came as an enormous setback in Rhule's 20 years of coaching experience. The 5-7 season in his first year with the program in 2023, sky-rocketed the expectations surrounding the Cornhuskers HC only to get defeated by Deion's Colorado Buffaloes. Even though Shedeur became a nightmare for Rhule, it did not stop the coach from speaking highly about the Buffs QB.

To quote him, "The one thing we always have to remember when we talk about Colorado is how great Shedeur is. He (Shedeur) is one of the best football players I've ever coached against. We blitzed him, I think we sacked him like 10 times. We hit him a ton, and he stood in there." But isn't it surprising that the college football fans did not like how things transpired? It might be because they see more scope in the Nebraska QB, Raiola. According to sources, the QB has been ranked as the third-best in the 2024 cycle. To evolve as a powerhouse, Rai0la landed in Kansas City after the Spring game and has dedicated himself to training under Patrick Mahomes' trainer, Bobby Stroupe.

Fans question Shedeur's skillset in the light of Deion's influence The college football fans, on the other hand, are not at all convinced about Shedeur's talents. A fan refused to be on the same page with Rhule as far as the Buffs QB's talents are concerned and instead chose to deny it outright, giving credit to his good public relations, "No he doesn't. He just has good PR". "Ok lol," commented another fan who took the Nebraska HC's claim as a joke.

Like many, another fan voiced his opinion on how Shedeur's fame was influenced by his father, Deion Sanders' legacy rather than his own skills, "Yea like matt rhule has coached against alot of top notch players in those tough Andy as* conferences he's been apart of.. sorry if kid wasn't deions son he wouldn't be a bump on frogs as* he's not that good.. wait and see cause I wasn't impressed with him at all klatt deions fan". A fan thought it wise to express his disagreement with Rhule latching on the mock drafts that predicted Shedeur to land late in the 2025 NFL draft, "Bet he's not even top 10 pic".

While fans put up their caustic attacks for Shedeur, Matt Rhule and Nebraska will leave no stone unturned to defeat the Buffs this time. Hoping to paint the Folsom Field all red defeating the black and gold army, all eyes are on September 7!
