Since his sensational interim title win against Sergei Pavlovich last year at UFC 295 in Madison Square Garden, Tom Aspinall announced himself to the world. His target is to hold the heavyweight title in his hand. However, that dream can only be fulfilled if he clashes against the reigning heavyweight champion, Jon Jones. The 'Brit' has tried all sorts of tricks to line him up for a fight against the 37-year-old.

However, his requests have always been shot down by the champion, who said, "The beautiful thing about being in my position is I'm not defined by one fight." But what really happens if the pair finally decides to clash against each other? Can 'Bones' handle the pressure of Aspinall? Former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman feels he definitely can.

Kamaru Usman picks Jon Jones as his favorite for his fight against Tom Aspinall If we look at Jon Jones' resume, many feel he is the greatest MMA fighter and has been unbeaten in his UFC career. His only loss of his career came via a disqualification. During his absence, many felt that Aspinall is the new face of the heavyweight division and his recent form is a testament to that. Also, Jones, at 37, is at the twilight of his career and is definitely way past his prime. However, Kamaru Usman doesn't quite agree with it. During his appearance at the UFC 306 event in Las Vegas, Jones announced that he would retire after his fight against Stipe Miocic.

This means that the highly anticipated clash between Jones and Aspinall is out of the cards. But the biggest question is does Jon Jones really need this fight to prove his legacy? Former welterweight champion discussed this particular topic in their latest Pound 4 Pound podcast with Henry Cejudo . The pair invited one of Jones' biggest rivals, Daniel Cormier , who shared his opinion on the whole matter. During his podcast, they made it clear that Jones doesn't need the fight anymore. However, 'The Nigerian Nightmare,' made it clear that if 'Bones' trained for a fight with Aspinall, he would come out on top.

The former champion said , "As a competitor inside the sport. And this is what how I feel too about the Tom Aspinall fight. One, he doesn't need to because he's done everything. But if he does get motivated. If there's any one guy that can do, I think is Jon Jones." Currently, the fight with Aspinall is definitely out of the cards as he has a bigger threat in front of him in Stipe Miocic.

The 42-year-old is a former UFC champion and holds the record for most title defenses (4) in his career. Jones is walking into the fight as a favorite. But what happens if he loses the fight? Do we see him taking on Tom Aspinall next? Well, former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen has the answer for you.

Jon Jones will definitely fight Tom Aspinall feels Chael Sonnen Despite winning the interim heavyweight title and staying unbeaten in his last three fights, Tom Aspinall has been ignored for quite some time now. He will be watching a returning Jon Jones defend his title against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 and has offered himself as a backup fighter for the event. However, the big news is Jon Jones has announced that he will be retiring after his fight at UFC 309. Following the announcement, Aspinall's dream of fighting the champion Jon Jones has taken a hit. But is there any chance of it happening? Well, fan favorite UFC analyst Chael Sonnen feels there is.

Sonnen took the time to discuss the matter on his YouTube channel and shared his honest opinion on the whole. The 47-year-old feels there is no chance that Aspinall vs Jones is not happening. According to Sonnen, the UFC 309, will definitely not be the last time when fans see Jones in action. Sonnen said, "I don't believe this is going to be Jon's last fight. I don't believe there's a scenario that Jon Jones does not fight Tom Aspinall. I believe, if Jon beats Stipe, he draws right into Tom Aspinall and doesn't flinch. But I know for sure, if Jon loses to Stipe, Jon is going to draw right into Tom Aspinall, and he's not even going to flinch." There is currently no official news of the fight happening between the two.

However, as fans, we would love to see them battle it out against each other for once in their career. Do you feel UFC 309 will be the last fight for Jon Jones? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
