Former First Lady Melania Trump defended her experience with nude modeling in her latest video on social media to promote her forthcoming memoir.

"Why do I stand proudly behind my nude modeling work?" Trump said in the video posted to her Instagram and X accounts. "The more pressing question is, 'Why has the media chosen to scrutinize my celebration of the human form in a fashion photo shoot?'"

The video begins with Trump's voice with classical music in the background. Black text is presented against a white background, and after Trump's question, the video transitions to show images of famous works of art that depict the nude human form.

The posts are the latest from Trump, who has been largely quiet, both on social media and in public, during the latest election cycle as her husband Donald Trump runs as the 2024 Republican nominee for the White House.

The Palm Beach resident's memoir, "Melania," will be released Oct. 8 from Skyhorse Publishing. The book is available online for pre-order from melaniatrump.com , Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

In the video posted Wednesday morning, three days after an apparent second assassination attempt on her husband, Melania Trump said, "Are we no longer able to appreciate the beauty of the human body?

"Throughout history master artists have revered the human shape, evoking profound emotions and innovation," she continued. "We should honor our bodies and embrace the timeless tradition of using art as a powerful means of self-expression."

The artwork shown in Trump's video include "Lady Godiva" by John Collier; "Eve" by Jean-Joseph-Alexandre Falguière; "Bathers (Les Grandes Baigneuses)" by Paul Cezanne; and Michelangelo's statue of David.

According to multiple media reports, Melania Trump posed nude twice: Once for a French magazine in 1995, and again in 2000 for GQ.

She began modeling at age 16 with agencies in Paris and Milan and moved to New York City in 1996 at age 26 to continue to pursue the career full-time.
