In the region: UVa men fall in Sweet 16
CHARLOTTESVILLE — Collins Oduro scored in the 11th minute to give the Indiana men's soccer team a 1-0 win over No. 7 overall seed Virginia in the round of 16 of the NCAA Division I tournament Sunday.
JT Harms had one save for the Hoosiers (15-4-4), while Joey Batrouni had two saves for the 11th-ranked Cavaliers.
UVa (11-4-4) saw its 10-game unbeaten streak come to an end.
Virginia was held scoreless for the first time since Sept. 8.
In other Sweet 16 action, Loyola Marymount beat James Madison 1-0 on Saturday night in Los Angeles. Ryan Kingsford scored in the 67th minute.
MEN'S BASKETBALL
Radford 100, Notre Dame (Md.) 53
Truth Harris scored 18 points to lead the host Highlanders (5-3) past NCAA Division III member Notre Dame (Maryland) on Sunday.
Notre Dame fell to 0-4 in its inaugural season of men's basketball.
Kenyon Giles had 17 points for Radford, while Chandler Turner tallied 15 points. Trenton Walters added 12 points.
Radford, which played without standout DaQuan Smith, shot 64.3% from the field and made 12 3-pointers.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
No. 23 W&L 70, Hollins 38
Elka Prechel had 18 points and six 3-pointers Sunday to lead the visiting Generals (5-1, 2-0 ODAC) past Hollins (3-3, 0-3).
Mary Schleusner had 10 points and 10 rebounds in 18 minutes for W&L.
Ferrum 59, Virginia Wesleyan 42
Kayla Cabiness and Taryn Blankenship each scored 17 points to lead the Panthers (4-1, 2-0 ODAC) past the Marlins (1-3, 0-2) on Sunday in Virginia Beach.
Allyson Cassell grabbed 17 rebounds for Ferrum.
