‘Industry’ alum’s workplace comedy ‘not-for-profit’ premieres at Cleveland Public Theatre

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Playwright Francisca Da Silveira calls not-for-profit (or the equity, diversity and inclusion play) " her "calling card play." She often has her agent send it to theaters and television producers interested in getting to know her as a writer. Indeed, the script helped her land a spot in the writer's room on season three of HBO's juicy drama, "Industry," about a group of young, sexy and ambitious investment bankers in London.

But after spending five years on the play — and despite being a 2023 finalist for the prestigious Susan Smith Blackburn Prize for a different work, "Pay No Worship" — the 32-year-old Boston native struggled to find a stage for it.
