Injured hunter rescued from Cedar Mountain in Clarksville

Nov. 16—A 59-year-old hunter was rescued Friday after suffering a hip injury that left him stranded on Cedar Mountain in Clarksville, according to New Hampshire Fish and Game.

Bruce Guillemette of Deerfield twisted his torso while hunting, leaving him unable to walk, near Bobcat Trail around 9:15 a.m., Fish and Game said in a news release. Guillemette managed to call 911 and his hunting companion for help, officials said.

Rescue crews from multiple agencies including Pittsburg Fire and Rescue, Beecher Falls Volunteer Fire Department, and Fish and Game reached Guillemette by noon using off-highway recreational vehicles. They carried him by litter for half a mile to waiting OHRVs before transporting him to Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook for evaluation.

Officials said both Guillemette and his companion were experienced hunters and properly equipped for the freezing temperatures.
