Interim managers appointed at charity under scrutiny

Two interim managers have been appointed at a Liverpool charity while it remains under investigation. The Charity Commission has opened a statutory inquiry into the Eldonian Community Trust Ltd amid concerns about its governance. The charity, based around the Eldonian Village in the Vauxhall area of the city, was set up in 1987 to "advance education" and establish a community centre. The commission appointed the two new managers on 24 October to "undertake certain duties to the exclusion of individuals who have been acting as trustees". The commission said the new interim managers are Sarah Tomlinson and Phil Watts of Manchester-based Anthony Collins Solicitors. It said the pair would be appointing new members to the charity, calling an AGM before the end of January and identifying members who could stand for election as trustees.
