InterMat College Wrestling Individual Rankings updated after Week 3

N.Thompson3 months ago

The latest college wrestling individual rankings are in the books after Week 3 of action from InterMat. There were some intriguing results ahead of Tuesday night’s All-Star Classic.

While that’s an exhibition, those matches are definitely telling based on the results. More on that later. We’ve already seen a major weight class change as well.

Without further ado, we’ll dive into InterMat’s latest college wrestling individual rankings .

Noto stayed at No. 1 for this year as the only movement in the top five came from Peterson after his win over Eddie Ventresca. Others received a bump as Terunkina entered the fray with a big jump. He’s 3-0 on the season. These rankings were also published prior to the NWCA All-Star Classic where Ramos defeated Noto in the exhibition.

Daton Fix – Oklahoma State (2)
Vito Arujau – Cornell (1)

Sam Latona – Virginia Tech (6)
Chris Cannon – Michigan (7)
Brody Teske – Iowa (9)
Julian Chlebove – Arizona State (10)

There were no changes within the top seven after Week 3. We’ve only seen Fix once so far this year. The movement came from Teske, who bumped up one spot, as well as Chlebove. Columbia senior Angelo Rini entered the top 10 this week.

Clay Carlson – South Dakota State (6)
Ryan Jack – NC State (8)
Mosha Schwartz – Oklahoma (9)
Cael Happel – Northern Iowa (10)

Not much changed at this weight after the third weekend but there was a little movement in the latter half of the top 10. Jack, Schwartz and Happel all moved up a spot. Hines entered the top 10, sporting a 7-1 record.

)

No changes across the board here. Henson is doing one heck of a job right now though, as he’s 12-0 on the young season. Lamer and Voinvich are thriving in their new spots, going 6-0 and 6-1, respectively.

Bryce Andonian – Virginia Tech (6)
Will Lewan – Michigan (7)
Brock Mauller – Missouri (8)
Ed Scott – NC State (9)
Daniel Cardenas – Stanford (10)

Not much movement here, but we saw Scott and Cardenas move up one spot. Chumbley enters the top 10 but has yet to wrestle this season. Franek and Robb have been impressive at No. 2 and 3, both at 7-0.

Holden Heller – Pitt (10)

No movement in the top eight as the wrestlers held serve in Week 3. Heller moved up a spot and is now 5-0 on the season. Taylor made his top 10 debut with a 6-0 record and goes up a spot in the rankings.

Mekhi Lewis – Virginia Tech (3)
Shane Griffith – Michigan (4)
Edmond Ruth – Illinois (5)
Carson Kharchla – Ohio State (
Peyton Mocco – Missouri (7)
Cade DeVos – South Dakota State (8)
Justin McCoy – Virginia (9)
Donnell Washington – Indiana (10)

The biggest news here is Cornell’s Chris Foca moving up to 184 pounds after an early season decision (more on that in a second). With that, everyone bumps up a spot while Incontrera moves into the top 10. Starrocci dominated Lewis in the All-Star Classic Tuesday night.

Dustin Plott – Oklahoma State (4)
Will Feldkamp – Iowa State (5)
Isaiah Salazar – Minnesota (6)
Lenny Pinto – Nebraska (8)
Gavin Hoffman – Ohio State (10)

Foca gets into the rankings up a weight, already placed in the top four. That’s huge considering he was an NCAA finalist at 174 last year. Keckeisen beat Truax at the All-Star Classic Tuesday night. Kane also moves into the top 10 with a 3-1 record.

John Poznanski – Rutgers (
Luke Surber – Oklahoma State (9)
Jaxon Smith – Maryland (10)
Michael Beard – Lehigh (11)

The top six did not have movement. By the way, Brooks was dominant over Sloan in the All-Star Classic, so we are really unsure if anyone’s going to beat him at this point. Poznanski, Surber, Smith and Beard all moved up one spot.

Luke Luffman – Illinois (8)

No movement across the board here. Want a big result? Look at Kerkvliet’s match against Hendrickson in Tuesday night’s All-Star Classic. Right now, he’s the big man on campus until Gable Steveson comes back, if he does.

There are already three weeks in the books for the college wrestling season. With Week 4 coming up, things will start to heat up around the holidays For the full InterMat individual rankings (No. 1 to 33), click HERE.
