Intoxicated Westport Man Accused Of Fighting With Police Officers: PD
WESTPORT, CT — A 44-year-old Westport man, who police said was intoxicated at the time, was arrested on a warrant by Westport police on Monday, in connection with an October incident where he was accused of fighting with officers.
Henrique Tofani was charged with interfering with an officer and second-degree breach of peace in connection with the Oct. 8 incident on Main Street.
According to Westport police, the department received a complaint on the 8th by a person who said that a man, later identified as Tofani, attempted to assault during an unprovoked attack.
"Mr. Tofani was allegedly intoxicated and began fighting with officers who were trying to speak with him about the incident," wrote Westport Police Lt. Eric Woods in a statement. "The complainant identified Mr. Tofani as the suspect who allegedly, unprovoked, attempted to punch them in the face, but missed. Due to Mr. Tofani's level of intoxication, he was transported to a local hospital and a warrant was issued."
On Monday, Tofani was arrested at his home, and was released after posting a $1,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Dec. 9.
