It’s Talladega 500 race weekend: How to find last-minute tickets

One of NASCAR's and Alabama's biggest events is happening this weekend: The YellaWood 500 NASCAR Cup Series Race. Drivers will include Kyle Bush, Bubba Wallace, Michael McDowell and numerous racing stars.

Ryan Blaney is the defending winner of the YellaWood race. Tyler Reddick won the GEICO spring race.

Friday events at the Superspeedway include the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Playoff Race and the Buckin Dega Rodeo. Saturday will feature a Mullet Contest, the NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoff Race and a concert by country star Jake Owen with Walker Montgomery opening.

Sunday ticket holders will have access to the Owen's Saturday night concert.

The 188-lap Sunday race is the 31st of the season, and the fifth race of the playoffs.

There are numerous activities planned for the weekend but the big race is Sunday, Oct. 6 at the Talladega Superspeedway in Lincoln, Ala.

The major events at Talladega are the Geico 500 in April and the Yellawood 500 in October. The Superspeedway was known as Alabama International Motor Speedway from 1969 to 1989. The 2.66-mile tri-oval track primarily hosts NASCAR races.
