It’s time for Basketball: Spurs vs Trail Blazers

Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don't troll and don't swear too much.

Last night wasn't great for the Silver and Black, as the Houston Rockets routed the Spurs in the Toyota Center 127-100 in a game that was never close. The Spurs played their worst game of the season, and while there were some impressive moments from Victor Wembanya, it was a beat down for San Antonio. They missed the energy and defensive intensity of Jeremy Sochan, and the quicker Rockets dominated the game on both ends of the court. I could say more, but I've run out of ways to say that the Spurs were outclassed by a better team last night and folded early.

Tonight, they face the Portland Trail Blazers, who, along with the Utah Jazz, are among the worst teams in the Western Conference. I would say that this looks like a win for the Spurs, but the Blazers have the same record as the Spurs and they have a rest advantage, so this isn't going to be easy for the short handed home team. They will just have to play better than they did last night, and while that seems inevitable, sometimes a stinker follows a stinker. Let's hope that doesn't happen tonight.
