SHARON, Pennsylvania (MyValleyTributes) – Jack L. Skinner, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at the age of 77.

Jack was born on June 14, 1947, a son of the late Dean and Dorothy (Hudspeth) Skinner.

He attended Sharon High School and graduated from Purdue University with a degree in mathematics and physics. He furthered his education with a master's degree from Youngstown State University.

Jack was Vice President of the former Eastern Software Corp of Sharon, where he managed software development. As someone who valued education, he tutored countless adults and children in all fields of mathematics. During his retirement, he taught calculus and statistics at Youngstown State University as well as Penn State Shenango, where he was voted part-time teacher of the year.

Jack was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Sharon. He was also a member of the Slovenian Athletic Club Charitable Foundation also in Sharon.

Jack was best known for his quiet intelligence, quick wit and quirky sense of humor. An avid reader, he also loved fishing and anything nature. But his greatest joy in life was being a dad to his Bobby and Erica. Nothing made him happier than loading up a bunch of their friends in his truck and heading off to the beach, amusement parks, concerts or a great new adventure. Those were the memories he treasured and kept him going.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, the former Diane Dyll; his daughter, Dr. Erica Skinner and her husband Ryan Delgros, Erie, Pennsylvania; his brother, Dean Skinner and family; his mother-in-law, Min Dyll; two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Knight and her husband Jack, and Carole Horsman and her husband Bill. Also surviving is a Goddaughter, Dr. Christina Evanko and her husband Tony and their sons, Gavin, Owen and Easton; Godson, Randy Knight and his wife Laney, and Jeff Knight and his wife Melanie and their children, Blaze, Kanen and Zola. He also leaves behind his mysterious black cat, Mrs. McGillicuddy; and a host of great friends, whom he considered family.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Ed Dyll; a sister-in-law, Georgia Skinner; a sister, Kathy Stucka; and his beloved son, Robert Edward Skinner. There was a joyous reunion in Heaven indeed!

The family would like to thank Dr. Nick Abbott and the caring Anova Hospice, for the time they took with Jack.
