JACKSON, Mich. (WILX) - Jackson residents will have the chance to get their houses in order before fall officially starts.

The city's Department of Public Works (DPW) will hold a city clean-up day where people can tidy up their properties for the fall season. Residents can drop off their household trash and yard waste at the Department of Public Works Operation Center at 521 Water Street.

When drivers arrive, they will be directed to drop-off zones. When it's their turn to unload, they will be asked to help DPW workers remove items from vehicles if they are able.

City officials said yard waste, such as grass clippings and brush, and general household trash, like boxes and furniture, are accepted.

Meanwhile, batteries, tires, kitchen garbage, paint, liquid waste, appliances that contain or have contained freon, hazardous waste, electronics, and motor oil will not be accepted.

The city's clean-up day is Sept. 28, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.
