Jake Paul "100 Percent" Ready to Fight Mike Perry in MMA But on One Condition, Per MVP Co-Founder

Jake Paul is ready for some action inside the squared circle. After his fight with Mike Tyson on July 20 in Arlington, Texas got rescheduled, 'The Problem Child' quickly found his next opponent, the BKFC star and UFC fighter- Mike Perry. The Ohio native considers the Perry fight a tune-up before the mega-event against Mike Tyson in November. The two combat specialists will be exchanging blows with each other on July 20th in Tampa, Florida. It must be pointed out that Perry's professional boxing record is 0-1. He was also knocked out in his debut fight against Kenneth McNeil. On the other hand, the former Disney star is 9-1, with six victories. The bout is also happening in Paul's preferred weight class: Cruiserweight. All signs point towards a Jake Paul victory. But, will Jake Paul face Mike Perry on his former hunting ground- the octagon?

The Youtuber-turned-boxer had signed a multi-year, multi-fight deal with the PFL in January last year. However, Paul has yet to make his MMA debut. Now, that might change as Jake Paul's founded Most Valuable Promotions' (MVP) co-owner Nakisa Bidarian has come up with an interesting update about the launch of his business partner's MMA career.

Is it a matter of when and not if? In a recent interview on The MMA Hour, Bidarian was asked by reputed MMA journalist Ariel Helwani if there is any possibility of having a rematch with Perry in the octagon . The MVP co-owner responded with, "I think if the fight makes sense, that's absolutely something that Jake would like to do."

However, a pre-condition has been set by Bidarian. The likelihood of the fight happening hinges upon the financial success of the boxing fight booked later this month."Let's see how it does, how it performs if there is appetite for that, Jake has said to me 100 percent he would be down to do MMA with Mike Perry," Bidarian said.

Jake Paul vs Mike Perry under the PFL banner does seem like a good idea. If it ever comes to fruition, Jake Paul would be the first megastar from the current generation of male boxers to make a jump to the MMA world. Moreover, it is a world Mike Perry is quite familiar with. With a 14-8 record, Mike Perry made his UFC debut in 2016 and continued to fight under the banner until his contract expired in 2021.

Paul has no experience whatsoever in MMA. However, he does have a high-school wrestling background, and most people would not be willing to bet on his grappling skills. Nevertheless, it would be interesting to see how Paul's fists square up against Chandler's. Safe to say, it is uncharted territory for the Ohio-born boxer. And who knows, maybe he would open the floodgates for boxers to try their luck out in MMA.

Back to his boxing career, Jake Paul recently revealed four fighters he wouldn't want to face in the ring.

The 'Problem Child' isn't invulnerable to fear! Alas, Jake has shown a bit of humility. He has chosen four fighters he would never call out for a matchup inside the ring. "Some heavy weights, I wouldn't agree to fight um maybe a Tyson Fury Anthony Joshua ," Jake Paul said.

The other two he mentioned are relentless pressure fighters David BenavidezOleksandr Usyk. But, the former is someone who he admires the most, as he praised his boxing pedigree in an interview with Viva La Stool.

"David Benavidez is just that nonstop pressure coming forward. You can't slow him down and he just throws bombs, switching stances. I mean that guy's a menace that's why he's my favorite fighter," Jake said.
