Jamie Foxx is paying tribute to the late Quincy Jones after his death at age 91 .

The Burial star, 56, commemorated the legendary music producer, who died on Nov. 3, with a sentimental message on Instagram thanking him for his work, and most of all, for the way he "embraced" his little sister DeOndra Dixon , who was born with Down syndrome and died in 2020 .

"Dear Quincy. Thank you. Thank you for giving the world music...thank you for giving the world light... thank you for giving the world an example of what a great human being is [supposed] to be like... you taught us how to live, you taught us how to get every moment out of life," he wrote alongside a photo of Jones smiling at the camera while he rested his head on his palm.

"Thank you for the way you embraced my sister," he added. "You treated her with such kindness and such grace... you allowed her to feel like she was a superstar... she loves you just like all of us did...please say hello to her if u run into her on your angelic journey..."

The actor went on to voice his gratitude to Jones for the times when he came to his house and "blessed us with your wonderful stories" at the dinner table and noted Jones' "impact" on both himself and the "entire world."

"Q you are a one of one...when God made you. He took a 30 minute break. Because he had just made someone special....," Foxx wrote. "You have no idea the impact you had on a young man from Texas... the impact you had on the entire world will never be forgotten..... rest in power ... love."

Jones' publicist, Arnold Robinson, confirmed to PEOPLE that he died at his home in Los Angeles, surrounded by his family.

Quincy was notably one of the actor's friends who had helped him get back on track early on in his career. Foxx previously shared in an interview with Access Hollywood in 2022, per Men's Health , that Jones, Oprah and Sidney Poitier set up an intervention for him following his non-stop partying after his movie Ray came out.

The Beat Shazam host recalled that Jones told him, "You've done a great job on Ray but you've f- everything else up now. You got to buckle down, baby."

The pair have also exchanged fun quips to each other on social media, with Jones even praising Foxx for his impression of him on X (formerly known as Twitter) in 2022. He wrote over a video of the Django Unchained star, "You ain't wrong ."

Foxx's tribute to Jones comes one month after he shared a touching message on Instagram for DeOndra, who was a longtime participant in the Special Olympics and served as an ambassador for the Global Down Syndrome Foundation , alongside snapshots of the siblings together on the anniversary of her death.
