October 6, 1944—October 29, 2024

Jane Karen (Kettleson) Giebler, 80, of Williams Bay, Wis., passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, after sustaining a major brain bleed from falling. Jane was born October 6, 1944, to Edward William Kettleson and Elsie Mae (Payne) Kettleson in Boone, Iowa, while her father was serving in China during World War II. Her childhood was spent in Williams Bay and then later in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, where her parents served the Lord for 28 years as missionaries running a Christian printing press called La Presse Evangelique and lay pastoring several Haitian churches. After Jane graduated from Williams Bay High School in 1962, she went on to study at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and Taylor University in Upland, Ind., ultimately receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature.

After completing her studies, she held a variety of jobs including secretarial work for the Shriner's in downtown Chicago. In 1970, Jane met a handsome German, (Hans) Peter Giebler, in Chicago, Ill. who wooed her with his continental charm. Jane and Peter were married on December 6, 1970, at Grace Evangelical Free Church in Chicago. The marriage was officiated by her father, Edward William Kettleson, in the church that her grandfather, Edward Martin Kettleson, had started. Jane and Peter were blessed with two children, Christian and Nadege.

Jane and Peter settled down in Williams Bay after the birth of their son. Jane's primary employment was that of mother and homemaker. She devoted her time and efforts to supporting her husband and children. Her love for them was evident through the quality time spent, special meals, and her affection. She invested her time in serving the Lord through her local church community of Calvary Community Church in Williams Bay, Wis. She served as a deaconess, an AWANA leader, and a long-term choir member. She had a strong unwavering faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as her maker, defender, redeemer, and friend which was evident in her actions and speech. After her children were grown, she returned to the workforce in various administrative and secretarial roles.

Jane took great joy in the love and companionship of many wonderful dogs throughout her lifetime: Bootsie, Caesar, Twinkie, Joey Boo Von Noodle, and Tricky Woo. She was an avid reader, enjoyed painting, and loved singing in choir. October was her favorite month because of her birthday and the beautiful colors. Pumpkin pie, French fries, Coca-Cola, homemade cookies, buttery popcorn, and peanut brittle were some of her favorite foods and she always said, "I never met a potato that I didn't like." She had a keen sense of humor. She generously gave gifts to show her love and worked hard to make holidays special. She gave wise advice and was an excellent conversationalist who could readily see and understand both sides of difficult issues.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Elsie Mae Kettleson. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 54 years, Peter Giebler; children, Christian (Kristen) Giebler and Nadege (Brandon) Ellis; grandchildren, Everleigh and Greyson Giebler and Simone and Charlie Ellis; brother, Scott Kettleson; sisters, Ruth (David) Knoerr and Lois Moore; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 9th at Calvary Community Church, N2620 Harris Rd (at Hwy 50), Williams Bay. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m., service at 11 a.m., with luncheon to follow. The family requests any donations to be made to House of Hope Haiti (houseofhopehaiti.com).
