In defeating the Lions 35-7 at Siebert Park Friday night, Juniata controlled the tempo of the game all evening, led by standout performances by a stable of backs to improve to 3-2 on the year.

Here's how the Indians did it.

The stars

Juniata running back/linebacker Javier Lopez had a massive night for the Indians, rushing for 94 yards and a touchdown while picking off a pass and recording a sack.

He wasn't the only Indian runner with a big game, as Lane Peiper took 11 carries for 119 yards and a score—a good chunk of it coming on a huge 62-yard run.

Connor Boreman made the most of three touches, tallying 58 receiving yards and a two-yard rushing touchdown.

Wyatt Ehrenzeller, at quarterback, rushed for 42 yards and a score, while throwing for 91 and another touchdown.

For Camp Hill, M.A. Scaringi also had a receiving touchdown, sack and interception. Quarterback Drew Branstetter left the game in the third quarter with an ankle injury, but should be okay, per head coach Tim Bigelow.

Game-deciding moments

After both teams traded possessions to start, Juniata uncorked a signature series, draining a ton of clock on a run-heavy drive before scoring on an Ehrenzeller rush.

The big swing came in the second quarter, though. Camp Hill forced an Ehrenzeller interception, as Noah Doi deflected a pass that Scaringi hauled in and brought deep to Juniata territory.

But a couple of plays later, Branstetter would fire a pass to the corner that Lopez would read the whole way, leaping for an interception of his own.

Juniata would then drive all the way down the field, eventually scoring on a 17-yard run by Lopez with 2:45 left in the half.

Then, the Indians would recovered a muffed kickoff, and would score with 34 seconds left in the half to put the team up 21-0 heading into halftime, and would never see the lead fall below two scores for the rest of the contest.

They said it

"We're very dangerous. We can pass, we can run, we can do it all." - Juniata running back Javier Lopez on his team's versatility

"We have a lot of veteran players. As the season progresses, I'm sure they'll keep gaining momentum and gaining confidence. But I like the way the kids work together, and we had a great week of practice this week so hopefully that, no matter what, continues." - Juniata head coach Kurt Condo on beating a state quarterfinalist team like Camp Hill

"They controlled the clock and the ball very well. They were physical with us. It's a good football team, tip your hats to them, and they executed a game plan to perfection. We had no answer for them. We had a tough time moving all in first half, came back in the second half, started to move the ball a little bit." - Camp Hill head coach Tim Bigelow on the struggle with Juniata in the first half

Juniata 7-14-7-7 - 35
