Jefferson school bus rear-ended
Nov. 5—JEFFERSON — A car rear-ended a school bus Monday at the intersection of Poplar and Beach streets.
Jefferson Deputy Police Chief Joseph Schor said the department received a call about the crash at around 9:10 a.m.
He said there were no injuries.
Jefferson Area Local Schools Superintendent John Montanaro said there were no students on the bus at the time of the crash.
"I'm glad no one got hurt," he said.
Montanaro said the bus was at a stop, about to start its second series of pickups when it was hit.
Schor said the driver fled the scene and the department is looking for them. He said the car was identified as a blue Ford Fusion.
Montanaro said the school district hasn't decided what to do with the bus yet, and he understands the crash to be a "minor fender bender."
