Sports Joel Klatt Responds to Dave Portnoy's Colorado Declaration

Just a couple of seasons ago, the Colorado Buffaloes were an afterthought in college football. In 2021, they fired Karl Dorrell after a 0-5 start and finished that season with a 1-11 record.

Right after, they made the decision to hire Deion Sanders as the head coach.

In less than two seasons, the Buffaloes have become one of the weekly talking points in college football, even with a subpar 4-8 record in Coach Prime's first year in Boulder.

After Colorado's stunning overtime win against Baylor in Week 4, Dave Portnoy joined the Coach Prime discussion.

"What Deion has done at Colorado is remarkable," Portnoy wrote on X. "They were the worst power 5 program in the country before he got there.

Current college football analyst and former Colorado quarterback Joel Klatt responded to Portnoy's take.

"This is 100% right...What he has do for the program, University, and Boulder community is remarkable...Huge impact monetarily," Klatt wrote on X.

There is no denying that Coach Prime has made a sizeable impact in his short time in Boulder.

The Buffs brought in high-profile transfers and recruits, with Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter as the two biggest.

Moreover, a report from Yahoo Sports mentioned that Colorado was estimated to make an economic impact of $113 million from the six home games in the 2023 campaign.

After years of football ineptitude at Colorado, Coach Prime has put this program on the map, and not just locally. They are a national talking point week in and week out.

After the win over Baylor, Colorado moves to 3-1 on the season with a game against UCF on tap next.

It's safe to say the Deion Sanders Effect is real in Boulder.
