John D. Danenberger

NORMAL — John D. Danenberger, 76, of Normal, passed on Monday, September 9, 2024. He was born December 29, 1947, in Normal, IL, to Samuel and Frieda (Klotz) Danenberger. He married the love of his life, Rita Wiley on March 21, 1970.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, his two sons, John Wyatt (Yuki Gottschaldt) Danenberger of Bloomington, IL, and Alex Clark Danenberger of Normal, IL; two grandchildren, Ana Danenberger and Wyatt Danenberger; one brother, Bo Danenberger of Danvers, IL, and one sister, Sue Swartz of Huntsville, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sally Wahls.
John was an avid music fan, record collector, and permanent fixture for concerts at The Castle. An accomplished gardener, John also enjoyed planting, landscape design, and studying specimen and native plant material.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded. Arrangements are with East Lawn Funeral Home 1102 Airport Road, Bloomington, IL, 61704. Memorial donations may be directed to The Castle Theatre or The Parklands Foundation.
