Joseph Wayne Stabler

Joseph Wayne Stabler, 83, of Elverson, passed away on September 18, 2024 in his residence at Rock Church Lane. Born in West Chester, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Donald Brooke and Mary Anna (Herr) Stabler. He was the husband of the late Judith Ann (Brooks) Stabler, with whom he shared 47 years of marriage until the time of her passing on May 12, 2018. Joseph is survived by his son, Joshua Brooke Stabler. In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jane Stabler. After graduating from West Chester High School, Joe attended college at Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, Illinois. Early employment included the Rudolph Brass Company where he worked with metal casting and historic hardware restoration, and at Schramm Incorporated, working as a machinist. Joe later found a career with Bell Telephone Company/Bell Atlantic, serving as a manager in the eastern area of Pennsylvania. Joe grew up on a dairy farm in East Goshen. Fond, lasting memories were of preparing Guernsey cattle for showing, and of walking the vast, lush fields of the farm. As a young man he attended the (Baptist) Church at Goshenville, East Goshen, Pennsylvania, and was a member of Goshen Grange No. 121. Joe enjoyed boating on the Chesapeake and traveling to Virginia with his grandparents. Later, his hobbies included tin working, travelling to Tioga and Bradford Counties, reading about his Quaker ancestors, and many years of volunteer work with Hay Creek Valley Historical Association. Joe was a kind and loving husband and father. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 23, 2024 at 2:00 PM at C. Stanley Eckenroth Home for Funerals, 209 E Main Street, Terre Hill PA 17581. A Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the time of service. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Elverson PA.
