Judge sentences man convicted of killing Euclid father at gas station

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A Cleveland man found guilty of fatally shooting a Euclid father at a gas station in December 2022 was sentenced Tuesday by Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Judge John Sutula to life in prison.

Bobby Buchanan Jr. will have his first chance of parole after he serves 40 years in prison.

Buchanan was also found found guilty of two separate criminal incidents, including, a non-fatal shooting in November 2022 at a commercial complex on W. 117th Street in Cleveland and a high-speed chase with Cleveland police in December 2022.

The bench trial for Bobby Buchanan Jr. began Sept. 4 in front of Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Judge John Sutula, but was not in session every day.

On Oct. 16, Judge Sutula found Buchanan, 33, guilty of aggravated murder, murder, attempted murder, felonious assault, failure to comply, and having weapons under disability.

Cleveland police said Buchanan fatally shot Anthony Wynn, 50, at the Shell Gas Station at the corner of St. Clair Avenue and E. 100th Street around 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 3, 2022.

According to police, Wynn was shot in the abdomen and thigh and died from his injuries at University Hospitals.

Police said Wynn was at one gas pump and Buchanan was at a separate gas pump when the shooting happened.

After the shooting, Buchanan fled the scene.

He was taken into custody by Cleveland police on Dec. 4, 2022.
