Judicial Nominating Commission sends names to Gov. Stitt to appoint new district court judge for Payne and Logan counties

Nov. 11—Three names have been submitted to the governor for appointment for the judgeship in District 9, Office 1, Payne and Logan Counties.

After concluding the review process and conducting in-person interviews, the Oklahoma Judicial Nominating Commission has submitted to Gov. Kevin Stitt the following nominees for this position:

—Louis Alvin Duel, Jr. of Guthrie

—Jason Allen Reese of The Village

—Katherine Elder Thomas of Stillwater

Under Article 7B, Section 4 of the Oklahoma Constitution, Stitt has 60 days to appoint a person to this position.

If he does not do so, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court shall make the appointment. The JNC made this announcement public on Oct. 22 in a press release.

After almost three decades of public service, District 9 Judge Phillip Corley, retired on Sept. 1.
