Judith Irene Frederick

Judith Irene Frederick, age 78, of Lincoln, NE passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. A native of Papillion, NE, Judy lived in Lincoln for much of her adult life. She also lived in West Lafayette, IN; Manhattan, KS; and Washington D.C. for shorter periods of time.

Mostly, Judy's life was one of service, especially to her family and local community. She had a friendly, even-tempered personality that made her an asset to any group. One of her first community activities centered on 4-H, where she earned many awards.

Judy also excelled academically, both at Papillion High School and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. After completing an undergraduate degree in Foods and Nutrition at UN-L, she was awarded a dietetics internship by the University of Michigan Hospital before earning an M.S. degree at Kansas State University. In her work career, she was employed by Purdue University and the federal WIC nutrition program.

While at UN-L, Judy joined Chi Omega sorority, where she made many lifelong friends. She was a 40-year member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, the DX Chapter of PEO, and several professional and honorary organizations.

Judy was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.

Judy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Roy Frederick; sons: Brian Frederick of Payson, AZ and Brett Frederick of Scottsdale, AZ; and grandsons: Carson, Cameron and Cole Frederick of Payson, AZ. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Marion Trumble, of Papillion; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carol and Ernie Thayer of Lincoln. Other survivors include cousin, Allen Trumble (Herman, NE); and nieces: Mary Watson (Papillion, NE), Nancy Cragg (St. Louis, MO), Anne Trumble (Tucson, AZ) and Jill Liliedahl (Lincoln); as well as nephews: Daryl, Jeff and Jerry Steinman (all of Nebraska City) and Scott Thayer (Lincoln).

Preceding Judy in death were her parents, Harland and Velma Trumble, of Papillion; sister, Margaret Steinman, of Nebraska City; and brother, Charles Trumble, of Papillion; as well as her parents-in-law, Rollie and Jane Frederick of Kearney.
