Kamala Harris notches wins in Vermont, New York, New Hampshire

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Vice President Kamala Harris has won the states of Vermont, New York and New Hampshire, according to the Associated Press.

With the polls closing right at 7 p.m., the AP called Harris the winner in Vermont, the first blue state in her column. As expected, Harris will pick up the state's three electoral votes.

Vermont has delivered its electoral votes to the Democratic standard-bearer in every election dating back to 1992.

With about 16% of the votes counted, the AP called the race in New York, with Harris leading 71% to 29%. She will pick up the Empire State's 26 electoral votes.

Early Wednesday morning, the AP called the race in New Hampshire for Harris, continuing the state's two-decade-long streak of awarding its four electoral votes to Democrats.

It's the third time Republican Donald Trump has won New Hampshire's GOP primary but lost the state in the general election.

However, the support from our region wasn't enough to put Harris over the top. Donald Trump was elected the 47th president of the United States on Wednesday.
