Kansas City Current Appoint Caitlin Carducci As General Manager
After six months of being the interim General Manager for the Kansas City Current , the club has officially appointed former NWSL and U.S. Soccer executive, Caitlin Carducci as the new General Manager.
"I came to Kansas City because I believe in the vision that Angie and Chris have for this club in this city, and I believe in Vlatko's ambition and ability to help see that through," said Carducci. "I'm grateful for the opportunity and confident that together we can build a club that can find success on and off the field."
Increasing Growth With U.S. Soccer and the NWSLCarducci spent five years with U.S. Soccer as the Manager of Member Programs where she oversaw all professional player registration and FIFA compliance. Additionally, she was also the main point-of-contact for all organization members with state associations and professional leagues.
Following her time at the federation, Carducci joined the NWSL as Director of Player Affairs. In her role, Carducci helped develop the programs and regulations that have led to the growth for the league along with the influx of global talent from international players.
In 2022, Carducci returned to U.S. Soccer as the Vice President of Member Programs and Stakeholder Engagement where she oversaw the Friends and Family program for both the 2022 Men's and 2023 Women's FIFA World Cup.
"I'm excited to continue working with Caitlin," said head coach and sporting director Vlatko Andonovski. "I've known her for a long time, and we've had a great partnership. She has such an infectious mindset that will make everyone around her work harder to make this organization better every day."
Current On the Move to Reach NWSL ChampionshipCarducci will continue to grow with the club during an exciting time as the Kansas City Current are also participating in the NWSL Playoffs and will face the Orlando Pride in the upcoming quarterfinals.
As the Current are one game away from participating in the NWSL Championship, the leadership executed from Carducci will be an anchor point as they strive to reach the Championship for the second time since their return to the league in 2020.
"Caitlin immediately stepped in when we needed her and has made it abundantly obvious that she is the right person to be the general manager of this club," said co-owner Angie Long. "Her experience and leadership have played a critical role in our development throughout the season and has helped to put us in this position where we are one game away from playing for the NWSL Championship."
Carducci was initially hired as the Director of Soccer Operations for the Current and with the role shift to the interim General Manager in May 2024, she has helped secure the resigning of key players such as Debinha and Vanessa DiBernardo.
