GALESBURG, Kan. — The Galesburg, Kansas Fire Department is getting $5,000 to better serve its community.

The Stacks for Giving Back program is a partnership between Nutella and the National Volunteer Fire Council. Galesburg plans to use the money to replace its fire hoses – some of which are more than 50 years old.

The all-volunteer department serves more than 870 residents in a 94-square-mile area and provides mutual aid to an additional 3,500 residents across 500 square miles.

Stacks for Giving Back awarded a total of $25,000 to five fire departments across the U.S. this year. The grants can be used to fund equipment, training, community outreach, and other department necessities.
